I remember how fun our guards and driver used to be. Looking back, I hope they got raises for being so god with kids. They used to tell us they were playing catch with an invisible ball. One guard would pretend to throw the ball and the other guard would wait a few seconds watching it fly through the air and then snap a plastic bag that they were holding to make it sound and look like they had caught the ball in the plastic bag. He would then reach carefully into the bag and throw it back. I was young enough that it looked pretty real to me and I think it took me a while to figure out what they were actually doing! I think they even let me try to throw the ball from time to time (I always seemed to drop it if I remember correctly). -Matt |

Here's someone with too much time on his hands. But thankfully he spends it telling us stuff we need to know: How to hook up a compressor to blow out a sprinkler system. Click here to see the article. |

This is the second time that I've run into the problem that my laptop doesn't boot and gives the error "Invalid or damaged bootable partition". I've been able to fix it both times it seems, but I have to look up how to do it each time. So I want to record at least some of what I've learned. This time I was able to fix it by: - Set BIOS to boot from dvd. (Hit F2 during reboot.)
- Boot from Windows XP dvd.
- I tried to repair the windows installation, by following a normal setup flow, but a previous installation wasn't detected.
- I rebooted from Windows XP dvd.
- Hit R to go to Recovery Console. (Admin password is blank, just hit ENTER.)
- Try bootcfg /scan to see if a windows installation can be found.
- If not, try a chkdsk /p to check and repair the disk.
- Retry the bootcfg /scan.
The following website seemed to be helpful as well. http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm |
